Freaky
Freaky arrived at Stewart Home School in May 2009. He has a wonderful background as a 4-H project horse and has a lot of hunter experience. Due to a leg injury, he was retired from serious jumping but can do low poles on the ground. So far, he has not lived up to his name; he has been very calm and a great mount for many of our students. He is 18-years-old and a Thoroughbred. He is bay in color, about 15.3 hands and 900 lbs.
Max
Max is a 25+ year old Appaloosa gelding. He has been a trail horse most of his life and loves to go! We try to keep him at the front of the line so he doesn’t think he is being left behind! He is a very gentle soul, loves to be groomed and fed treats. Max is about 14.1 hands and 850 lbs. (the perfect size for many of our students) and we feel so lucky to have him here!
Bob
Bob may look familiar to some of you; he was here visiting one Family Weekend about four years ago. His owners divorced and we were able to get him here from New Hampshire for our program. Bob is a 19-year-old Percheron (one of the many draft horse breeds) and he was used as a pulling horse for many years. He loves to drive but he is also a very good riding horse for our taller students. Bob is about 16.2 hands, 2,000 lbs and is black in color.
Cory
Cory is Bob’s best buddy. They came together from New Hampshire in November 2008, and we weren’t quite sure what to expect! When this little guy came off the trailer, we were thrilled! He is the perfect size to drive in the indoor arena and he is just so cute! He is blind in his left eye but it doesn’t seem to bother him; we just have to be careful not to startle him on that side. He is most likely a Shetland Pony, 14 years old, about 500 lbs and 10 to 11 hands high.
Tia Marie
Tia Marie holds a special place in all of our hearts as our only surviving horse from the devastating fire of 2007. She was originally saved from an auction in Pennsylvania several years before we purchased her, so this horse is definitely a survivor! A Saddlebred, she is approximately 23-years-old, although she may be a bit older. Tia Marie is about 15 hands, 950 lbs. and has a lovely dark chestnut color.
Sheba
Sheba, registered name WT Sheba, is a 23-year-old Arabian mare. Her owner called us about two days after the fire and said she had the perfect horse for our program. The lady was right: She is perfect for us! She has wonderful gaits, is nice and small and compact so many different size people can ride her. Best of all, her personality is wonderful. She is about 14.2 hands, 900 lbs and she is gray in color.
Clyde
Clyde is a 13-year-old Arabian gelding. He was used as an endurance horse for 100mile rides for many years, so being ridden all day is no problem for him! He is about 15 hands and weighs 900 lbs and is as sweet as can be!
Lexie
Lexie came from the same farm as Freaky and Delite and has proven to be just as great for our students! Lexie was previously ridden as a trail horse. Her calm personality in new situations makes her a perfect fit for our program. Lexie is an 18-year-old Appaloosa/Arabian cross. She stands about 15 hands high and weighs about 900 lbs.
V-12
V-12 is an 18-year-old registered Thoroughbred given to us by Mt. Brilliant Farm in Lexington. She was a polo pony for many years and seems to be enjoying her new career here with us. She is one of the sweetest horses, and the students love to ride her even though she is one of the bounciest horses we have! V-12 is about 15.2 hands, 950 lbs and a light chestnut color.
