She sat on stage laughing, shrugging her shoulders and ducking praise.

When it came time for her to speak, she told it like it was.

I'm so happy I'm the mayor, said Lindsay, mayor of Stewart Home School.

Lindsay welcomed all of the families and residents to the 113th celebration of Stewart Home Schools Family Weekend. She echoed the weekends theme, Together The Perfect Fit, saying it was a wonderful place for students to learn, to live and to get a good education.

Serving as mayor is a full-time job for Lindsay because she feels so strongly about the school. She said coming to Stewart was a perfect fit for her and she wants other students to have the opportunity to become as independent as she is.

Whenever anyone asked Lindsay about the school, she launched into how she was so happy to help celebrate the 113th anniversary of the Family Weekend and how the school is a perfect fit for the residents and families.

"She is killing me", said Frankfort Mayor Bill May, who came up to the Family Weekend opening ceremonies to welcome the families. "I told her she should start writing speeches for me."

Lindsay has always loved to talk, said Patsy Chambers, her boss at the schools beauty salon. She said Lindsay is a hard worker and it is evident she loves to live and work at Stewart Home School.

She is always happy, always cheerful and she is always on top of things, Chambers said. She loves to talk shell tell you that and she has no problems with self esteem.

That is why it was no surprise when Lindsay won both mayor of the school and the woman of the year award, Chambers said.

"Everyone knew she would win", Chambers said. "If I could have voted, I would have voted for her".

Part of Lindsay's platform was giving back more to the community. Many Frankfort organizations do a lot for the school and Lindsay wanted to increase the schools involvement in the community.

This year, Lindsay and another student helped the United Way move the Salvation Army into a new building.

However, Lindsay said she still has a lot to learn. She enjoyed riding in a brand new red Mustang convertible with May in the Family Weekend parade. She said they talked about her speech and how she can work to make the school an even better fit for its residents.

May invited Lindsay down to his office to see how Frankfort's mayor governs. He said he invites the Stewart Home School mayor every year to his office.

"I am definitely going to go down and see him", Lindsay said.

For now, her mayoral duties are over. She gave a speech, opened a library and appeared in a parade, but still she could not stop smiling.

"I am just so happy", Lindsay said.
